Türkiye Earthquake Appeal: Donate to Help The Ones In Need

Early Monday morning on February 6th 2023, two powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.5, hit Turkey and Syria, causing an unprecedented devastation in both countries.More than 20.000 people lost their lives and the death toll keeps rising. It is apparent now that this is one of the worst natural disasters of the century.

While rescue efforts and disaster recovery operations still continue to reach individuals who are trapped under the debris, local and global charities are working relentlessly to raise funds and help the survivors of the tragedy.

The list below, addresses the organizations who are actively working on the crisis and accept donations. Please extend your hand and donate to save lives.

Governmental Organizations

Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Türkiye. An institution working to prevent disasters and minimize disaster-related damages, plan and coordinate post-disaster response, and promote cooperation among various government agencies.

 

The main tenets of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are summarized by the fundamental principles proclaimed in 1965. These Fundamental Principles guide the International Federation (IFRC), Local Associations (Red Crescent/Red Cross) and International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) officers and volunteers in thier responsibilities in relief, they also forming a universal foundation which promotes the goals and humanitarian causes of the Movement.

 

Local Charities

The Ahbap aims to provide all kinds of aid to the needy people, in kind and in cash, to strengthen the awareness of cooperation in the society, to serve the building of good people and good society, to create contemporary and sustainable networks of cooperation and solidarity with new cooperation models and projects, to protect the local culture and to protect todays technological technologies. Ahbap was established with the aim of contributing to its development and moving to the future with its opportunities.

 

AKUT is entirely a voluntary, non-governmental organization involved in searching, assisting and rescuing all who require aid within its authority and means, in mountain or other nature-related accidents, natural disasters and all other emergency conditions by means of trained, disciplined, high-standard personnel and equipment, passing on knowledge to society with no political affiliation.

 

Needs Map is an online platform that brings people in need together with individuals, institutions and organizations that want to support. It facilitates cooperation and solidarity through different areas such as education, health, culture and arts through proven mapping technology and community-based verification functionality. Needs Map provides individual and collective financial development by matching the needs and those who want to support them on a platform.

 

An independent humanitarian organization founded with the principle aim of helping disaster affected communities meet their basic needs and rights. They are conducting their activities since 2005 with principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence and accountability. Currently, their primary areas of work are Emergency Assistance, Refugee Support, Child Protection in Seasonal Agriculture and Capacity Building.

Turkish Philanthropy Funds (TPF) is the leading U.S. community foundation for high-impact social investments dedicated to Turkish and Turkish-American communities. Inspired by the U.S. history of private philanthropy and the various ways in which individuals, families and institutions can give, TPF’s founding team set about creating a foundation that could encourage those interested in supporting Türkiye to be more philanthropic and address vital needs in local communities. 

 

Turkey Mozaik Foundation has a mission to promote and support civil society organisations.

The foundation focus on the participation and social welfare of vulnerable groups in the society, mainly through the advancement of education, health, children’s rights, gender equality, culture & arts, and environmental sustainability. It works with civil society organisations that strive to empower local communities and help drive social change through innovative means. It’s main role is to provide funding for their partner charities and projects through donations and fundraising events in the UK.

 

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian network. Its secretariat supports local Red Cross and Red Crescent action in more than 192 countries, bringing together almost 15 million volunteers for the good of humanity.

 

One of United Nation’s largest organizations, UNICEF works to support and protect children's and adolescents' rights around the world and in Türkiye.

 

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people.
